OUR STORY
Bryan Kennedy Construction and Development Ltd was established in 1968 by Mr Bryan Kennedy and Mrs Ada Kennedy in West Cumbria and ran for 12 years. Unfortunately the business stopped trading because Mrs Kennedy died in a car crash. The business primarily focused on general construction, small civils, development and buying properties for refurbishment and resale. The company worked for commercial clients including CO-OP and senior building inspectors in the local authority of Kendall, Mappin and Webb as well as serving the business community throughout Cumbria in the form of shop fittings, private residential extensions and refurbishments to name a few which spanned through Cumbria East, South and North to Penrith and the Lake District and as our reputation grew we expanded our business further into London. Clients were busy buying property in the Lake District, hence being contracted North and South. I started working within the firm in my early teens and at the age of 19 began an expansion of the business to include Southern Spain, primarily Andalusia where my family had a house. I studied architecture in Malaga receiving a colegio d’archetictura. My parents were investing in property on the Costa del Sol in the early 1970s and on my mother’s passing away the company in Spain received the land. Construssiones Kennedy SA began trading in 1979/1980. The business grew as it was a time of great expansion in Southern Spain. We undertook large building projects including renovations of holiday complexes with particular attention on large private villas redesigning, rebuilding and renovating them in and around the Marbella Club and east and west of Marbella for such clients as Judy and Caspar Weinberger the then secretary and minister of defence of America. Alfonso Honolo the owner of the Marbella Club. Ferdinand Bismarck of the Bismarck family and all his close family including Sanda and Gonila Bismarck. Elizabeth Coty of Coty perfumes. We also undertook design of hard and soft landscaping on virgin sites through to lush, tropical water cascading feature gardens.
THE 80's & 90's
Investor Sol began in 1984 in Bahrain. We did swimming pools and general refurbishment including pools on the tops of apartment complexes which were notorious at leaking and we became specialists in containment of water.
Kennedy and Kennedy began operating in central and Greater London from the late eighties being bought back to London from Southern Spain. We undertook house refurbishments and commercial works which included to mention a few: 244 Tottenham Court Road refitting out an office for Richard Branson. Also the horticultural society at St James Street where we designed and constructed new laminated span trusses. We worked on the world trade centre for a division of Taymec Taylor Woodrow. We worked for Bank of America refurbishing their offices in the mineries. We worked at West Ham on the redevelopment of 180+social houses and we were keenly involved putting forward well negotiated procurement of materials and well drafted programmes of works for the work teams.
We began work in Gibraltar in the 1990s building swimming pools and refurbishing houses and apartments with a specialist division of Spanish roofing in Gibraltar.
THE 2000's
We began work in Portugal in 2000. We undertook general house renovations, swimming pools, underpinning and structural work and all damp procedures to roofs and below ground areas. We did a large project for the CEO of Waites Construction Group. We also did soft and hard landscaping.
From 2007-2009 we began operations in the South of France and Monaco. Works included villa renovations and swimming pools. Large projects included Villefranche, Jean Cap Ferrat and Beaulieu Sur Mer, Es Village, Valbonne and all along the coast. At the same time we became more acquainted with the potential of negotiating to seek out and find properties for refurbishment and sale along the Costa Del Sol, Portugal and the Riveria. Whilst speaking the local languages this made it easier to access the local market stretching up to the borders of Italy and encompassing Monaco. We also sought out off market detached and semi detached cottages on traditional village greens and by rivers refurbishing them from Bath to Bradford On Avon.
CURRENT
From 2012 onwards we continued in central London with various fit outs in the city and in 2017 we expanded operations in Brighton and Hove starting with roofing jobs for London clients with a property portfolio.
So to cap it off the above is a brief highlight of the past 5 decades of our capabilities that we have built up to be experts in all the fields of our profession.
